ex-Bethelites - How many people at Bethel were anointed?
by Lady Lee in.
i read an interesting question on one of my threadshow many people at bethel were anointed?

Can I ask a question as an outsider?
if the JWs believe that there are currently about 8,000+ 'anointed' living, and that the 'anointed' are the F&DS, why is there no procedure for WTBTS to consult the 'anointed' to ensure that WTBTS is getting updates from jehovah?

Jehovah's Witnesses, Child Abuse and Love
by Big Tex inin reading thirdwitness of late, i am reminded now how painful it was to deal with that level of cold, harsh denial.
for those innocents hurt by this strange, mean little sect i submit ...
october 8, 1993 awake: tragically, adult society often unwittingly collaborates with child abusers.

As a not, never have been a JW, but a retired professional who dealt with too much child abuse, can I please post this plea?
Do not ever, ever, allow anyone (apart from parents/carers of course) anywhere near a child abuse victim unless and until the professionals have done their jobs and finished with their interviews. The parents/carers should share no details with anyone else - especially not the alleged or putative abuser or anyone connected with them.
The professionals work under very strict guidelines and rules to ensure that the evidence of the victim is not 'tainted' - i.e. can't be excluded by a court.
There is nothing more distressing than a victim who has gone through the pain and horror of all this only to find that because others have got involved (and that would include 'elders' of a mind control cult) their evidence, which they have gone through so much pain to give, is discounted.
I don't mean to sound preachy, but this is something I feel very strongly about.
ALL and ANY suspicions of abuse should be reported immediately. It is a principle of the law in these matters (in the UK at least) that 'early complaint' may be a corroborative factor.

Ah, the Queen Vic!
It's about 100 yards away from where I live. I'm in there 4 or 5 times a week, and yes it is mostly Brits.

Nothing wrong with lager at all, as a very cold refreshing drink (I mostly drink Keo, Leon or Carlsberg here - at CY£1/pint).
But it really doesn't compare with a real beer. I'm going back to UK in a couple of days for 2 weeks, and I'm really looking forward to a good hand-pulled pint!
I'm in Paphos (Tombs of the Kings). There is a pub on Bar Street (Monroe's) where they brew their own real ale. Not bad at all.
Cheers!

KW:
Take it from me, when you've checked out the trendy bars, you'll be glad to get back to a proper pub with real beer (no, I don't mean lager!).

I just had to say how much I appreciated the fine uplifting story of the German bus driver (pp. 17 - 18).
What a load of crap!

raised in the truth?
by bluebeads ini was just wondering what constitutes as being brought up in the truth.
my mom was baptized when i was 7 and my dad got dunked when i was 11. right now i don't really consider myself as being fully raised in the truth because even though i've been going to meetings since i was 6 i just slept/doodled through them.
my mom didn't study with us kids and my dad didn't start the family study until i was 12. i'm turning 20 in a few weeks... i've known life before the truth and it was much bettter, everyone was soo much happier.

Hi Bluebeads.
To put this in context, I'm not and never have been a JW. I have no personal experience of the way the organisation works. So I base this on my understanding as it is.
These are generalisations, but I think many posters would accept them:
1. Elders have a significant degree of authority in their congregations.
2. Because of the emphasis on avoiding 'worldly' contacts, etc., many JWs may be relatively naieve (other than the general perception that everything outside the JW world is evil)
3. JWs are encouraged to keep anything that happens within a congregation quiet, so as to preserve the organisation's reputation.
You obviously found this man's comments and conversation inappropriate. They certainly seem so to me. I entirely agree that you should tell people about it, especially your parents and your friends. You should not be alone with this man. To be honest, if he's in his 60's and trying to 'groom' a 19 year old (and it sounds like that to me) he may not be too worried if his next or other targets are a few years younger.
But I would go further. If, when I was a police officer, I heard about this I would have spoken to my colleagues in the child/family protection unit to see if there was any record of this man. If there wasn't I would have entered the information. If you know any police officers (or social workers or similar) speak to them about it.
I don't know where you are. If you're in the UK or somewhere where they have police family protection units, I'd ask you (if you can) to arrange a confidential talk with them. You don't have to make a statement, complaint or anything formal, just give them the information. It may match up with something they already know or may be a 'heads up'. At least you've done your bit.
I may, of course, be doing this man a disservice and his motives are entirely harmless. Unfortunately too many years of dealing with too many cases suggests that he is a danger to youngsters.
